Chakra Series Blog Ajna
Salutations and happy Spring! I hope your first week into the season of fertility has brought fresh inspiration and joy into your days! 🌷🌱🤗
Living in the desert of Arizona, we don’t have a great distinction between seasons, but once a person has lived here long enough the slight changes in the way the beautiful desert comes alive are very visible and welcomed.
The, seemingly, delicate wildflowers blooming along the roadsides, the sheen of the sun on the new cactus needles as the sun rises, the well known scent of “rain in the desert” as the creosote bush waves its terpenes throughout the entire Valley of the Sun in the spring rain, the brown desert coming alive with a multitude of varying shades of green! Aaaahhh! I love my home state!
My favorite scent in the spring is that of the citrus blooms. There’s no mistaking that spring is here in this desert city when the fresh and delicate scent of lemon, grapefruit, and orange blossoms open up to welcome all the hungry bees (and my nose)! This scent brings me back to my childhood in such a good way 😌.
I also love spring because it’s that time of year that I feel a fresh dose of insight and inspiration. Like a child in the early years of life, my imagination is piqued and I am curious to see what’s around every corner, every bend in the road. My meditation is alive with visuals of moving light and color.
Which brings me to our next chakra in this Women’s Empowered Health Solutions Chakra Series Blog. We are up to the sixth chakra! My, how time is flying this year!
This week we look at Ajna (pun intended 😉) the 3rd Eye Chakra. This energy center is the center of illumination, the gateway to wisdom, the illuminated source of the light within us.
When meditating upon this center between the eyebrows and back a several inches into the brain where the Pineal Gland is located (referred to by Yogis as “The Cave of Brahma”), we discover a world of serene beauty and the light of consciousness. This energy vortex allows us to see beyond the physical world and into the realm of spiritual energy. Are you excited to learn more about Ajna? Great! Let’s go!
But first, let me give you a little heads up on the pronunciation I was taught. The “A” makes an Ahhh sound, the “J” makes a soft “G” sound with the mid range of the tongue on the soft palate rather than the English speaking sound of “J”. The “N” sounds like there’s a “Y” (as in yes) right after the tongue touches the hard front palate behind the teeth. If I were to write out how it sounds it would look like this ( Āg ñy ā ).
Now let’s dive into the 3rd Eye Chakra 👁
Ajna is:
The 6th chakra up from the bottom.
Located between the eyebrows and about 2 inches behind the front of the skull.
Represented by the color indigo blue.
Shown having 2 petals, one to each side, resembling an eye.
Supported by the seed sound OM -or- AUM
Associated with the metal Silver and the planet Jupiter
Related to the element of Light
Emotionally connected to Psychic Awareness
Tied to the sense of Intuition
“The name of this chakra, Ajña, means both to perceive and to command. To perceive is to see or recognize a pattern. To command is to hold a picture in your mind as a guiding template for manifestation”
